WELCOME TO MY BLOG FOR AUTHORS

lTHIS BLOG IS AIMED TO ASSIST AUTHORS:

Authors don't need help in writing books, they have already achieved this, A blog like this would have helped me so much as I was navigating my way through my early days as an author and all that you read are the end results of many hours of trial and error.

Authors generally need help with the "what happens next!" part, the marketing, the sales, the management, etc. These are the areas I will try to assist you with, specially designed for new authors, who are growing at an amazing rate, the blog is also for experienced authors who may need a few refresher updates.

As you look around the hyperlinks you will find currently two topics of help from me on two very different parts of Amazon, which is where all new authors probably need to start.

The two important areas are.

1. The Amazon Mechanics for Authors - This will help you in understanding how Amazon works and will assist in allowing you to make an informed decision on the best way to proceed in a way that suits you best.

2. Do Amazon Promotions Work for Authors? - This is a little deeper than the above category and it explores why I believe Authors are heading in a direction that does not help their plight with regard to free promotions!

I intend to write in the near future about the biggest minefield of all. VANITY PUBLISHERS. The trap is so easy to fall into for experienced authors let alone new authors who can easily fall into the trap of the publishing predators.

Finally, I have added the first two chapters of both my novels, A Walk to Revenge and Sartori, It would be rude not to!

Enjoy my blog and please ask any questions you would like answered or topics you would like me to write about in the future.

Sartori Chapter one

SARTORI CHAPTER ONE     CHESHIRE –DECEMBER 4th 1997.   The winter sun sat low as it shone over the pretty Cheshire village on the cold December morning. Archbishop Matthew Fitzpatrick was delivering the funeral planned today at St Theresa’s church in the quiet village where, Roberto Sartori and his wife lived for the past thirty years. Archbishop Fitzpatrick did not usually conduct the funerals within the diocese; the parish priests usually had a stronger connection with the congregation at such a personal point in people’s lives. This was the first burial service the archbishop had delivered in over twenty years. Today was different it was for a friend, Roberto Sartori, a devout catholic, along with his wife Antonia and devoted brother, and lifetime business partner Giovanni. Toni was the driving force in upholding the faith throughout the family; she would often offer large gifts, above twenty thousand pounds, to the diocese. The archbishop was always willing to accept and share a

IngramSpark or Amazon?

Who is IngramSpark?   IngramSpark's are a global network that distributes books, usually for self-published authors. They are well-established and have been operating for around fifty years.  They are the largest book distributor in the world, serving over 39,000 book retailers worldwide, both shopfront and online.  So, in a sense, it is a very big deal for many authors and publishers to be locked into publishing This means that all self-published authors should have IngramSpark as a major consideration for their sales outlets. Ingram’s channel is to operate to sell books from publishing houses to retailers, ( they also own the world’s  advanced print-on-demand company,  Lightning Source ,) Since books uploaded through  IngramSpark  are entered into the same database as frontlist titles from established publishers, retailers can search for and order these books as they would any other distributed title. When such orders are placed, your book is  printed-on-demand  and ship

VANITY PUBLISHERS - BE AWARE!

Vanity Publishers! Traditional? Hybrid? or Vanity Publishers?, confused? There is every reason to be its an absolute minefield, I hope I can clear some of the differences to help make a better choice.  Authors can spend hours worrying whether or not to sign a contract with a publisher that has been very complimentary about their book, however, they are asking for a 'contribution towards the cost of publishing the book'. This sometimes could cost thousands. This blog is aimed at Vanity press and not traditional or hybrid offers The very first point to make is that  - traditional publishers  Will not request a contribution. Traditional publishers only take on work they believe is worth investing their own money in, confident it will give them a return on their investment, they are prepared to put their money where their mouth is! Unfortunately, this is a leading reason why new authors find it difficult to get their work published. The publisher has to be sure that the book
